The thing nobody tells you about handmade soap is that half of it ends up in the drain. The bar gets soft, slips, breaks, and the last third just dissolves the next time you shower. I made the soap. I'm not going to let it go to waste.
This is the fix. A simple sisal bag that holds the bar from start to finish. You wet it, work it into a lather between your hands or on skin, and the bag does two things: keeps the soap dry between showers (so it lasts longer), and gently exfoliates while you wash. When the bar wears down to a sliver, it stays inside the bag. You use every gram of it.
Sisal is a natural plant fiber which is the same material people use for body brushes. It softens with use. After a few showers it stops feeling stiff and starts feeling like a slightly textured washcloth.
Hangs in your shower on the drawstring loop. Replaces in 3-4 months with regular use. Compostable when you're done with it.
